Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, said: “I welcome the decision of the West Herts Health Authority to establish an independent review of the concerns raised by patients of local hospital consultants, Lennox Kane and David Rosenburg, and the establishment of a helpline for patients of those consultants.
“I have been urging the establishment of an independent review and the setting up of a helpline since this issue first became public. The Authority?s decision follows my raising this issue with the Secretary of State for Health in Parliament on the 13th March.
“It is important that the review examines not only the treatment of individual patients but also the system for clinical audit and for responding to complaints at Hemel Hempstead. I hope the review will be able to make positive proposals for the future rather than just investigating where any blame might lie.
“I am grateful to the Chairman of the West Herts Health Authority for agreeing to a meeting with myself and Charles Elphicke tomorrow, the 22nd March, when we will be discussing the terms of the review.
