Rt Hon Lord Lilley

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, is calling for a robust response from the NHS to an independent inquiry?s report into the clinical malpractice of two Hertfordshire consultants, Dr. L Kane and Mr. D. Rosenberg.

    Peter Lilley said:

“I share the dissatisfaction of the women concerned with such a bland and inconsistent report after a year?s delay. I originally campaigned for an independent inquiry along with Charles Elphicke, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for St. Albans and in support of Women Against Medical Injustice (WAMI).

“The report records 39 cases which gave rise to concern about clinical practice and physical damage ? then largely dismisses these and focuses on what are labelled ?emotional consequences? and the complaints procedure. In fact insensitive and offensive behaviour is a major area of complaint ? and cannot be separated from clinical treatment especially in such a serious and sensitive matter as gynaecological procedures.

“It is amazing that a report taking a year to produce does not even mention that one consultant has been suffering from Parkinson?s disease nor the nature of the problem facing the other consultant.

“I will be seeking a more robust response from the NHS and, if need be, the Minister to ensure that this is not swept under the carpet.?
