Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, urged constituents to write to Luton Airport Management opposing their proposed expansion of Luton Airport before Friday 27th January, the deadline set by the operator.
Peter stated, “It is essential that we show the strength of local feeling against plans to expand Luton Airport to the scale of Heathrow.?
“I have attended four meetings across the constituency, at Whitwell, Kimpton, Harpenden and Hitchin where many hundreds of constituents told me about their fears over the planned expansion; from the extra noise pollution which will accompany it to the massive congestion it will cause on our roads. I urge everyone who shares these worries to write to Luton Airport Management and let them know we oppose their plans.?
“Please copy your letters to me at the House of Commons so that I can present them to Alistair Darling, the Secretary of State for Transport, as evidence of local feeling about such plans, and sign the petition against the expansion. I will be presenting all the signatures we have already on the petition in Parliament this Thursday.?
