Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, marched with over 400,000 people, including many from Hertfordshire, in the Liberty and Livelihood March yesterday to protest against the Government?s Threat to liberty.
Peter Lilley said:
“For me the issue was liberty. I have no interest in hunting and have never taken part in a fox hunt, but I strongly oppose restricting people?s freedom to do so unless there is convincing evidence to impose a ban ? which has not been forthcoming. The Government?s preoccupation with this issue demonstrates a distorted sense of priorities and is more to do with old-fashioned class warfare than anything else.
“As yesterday?s march demonstrated, the issue of freedom in Britain unites people of all classes and ages. The Government cannot afford to ignore their voice.?
