Michael Ancram, Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party and Shadow Foreign Secretary, spoke last Saturday to over 100 people who attended the annual Harpenden South Conservatives‘ dinner.
Michael Ancram told those attending that “the Conservatives are now clearly united behind a new, strong Leader in Michael Howard and are set to regain the Hertfordshire seats they lost in 1997”. He also paid tribute to Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, who he described as “the Party‘s leading policy thinker who is playing a leading part in developing new policies”.
Peter Lilley said: “I was delighted that Michael Ancram came to speak to us last Saturday. It is a sign of the renewed confidence in the Conservative Party that so many people wanted to hear what he had to say and we are grateful to him for taking the time to come to Harpenden.”
