Rt Hon Lord Lilley

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, is to meet students who will be lobbying Parliament about the government‘s plans for top up fees on Wednesday, 3rd December.

Peter Lilley said “I will be meeting students from my constituency who are concerned about government plans to introduce a stealth tax of up to ?3,000 a year on students.

“I shall listen very carefully to what the students say about the impact such fees may have on the willingness of young people to go to university.

“I am concerned that students will have to repay a large burden of debt out of income which will already be suffering higher levels of tax as a result of this government‘s introduction of 60 new taxes increases since 1997.”
