Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, is to meet local Police Chief Inspector to press for improved local policing in Redbourn following a recent upsurge in complaints about violence and vandalism.
Peter Lilley is to meet Chief Inspector David Moore on Friday 19th December to discuss ways in which people, in particular in Redbourn, can be reassured that the police take seriously their concerns about crime, and how the situation can be improved.
Peter Lilley said: “Over the last few months I have received increasing numbers of letters from constituents in Redbourn who are concerned about the levels of crime in the villages and the apparent lack of police ability to deal with the problems.
“I shall be stressing the need for increased beat policing. We know from statistics from America that visible policing – on foot and not in cars – has been instrumental in reducing crime in the States and I believe it can be equally effective over here.”
