Rt Hon Lord Lilley

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, is urging manufacturing companies in his constituency to enter the Institution of Mechanical Engineers‘ Manufacturing Excellence Awards. These awards are now in their 25th year and examine UK manufacturers‘ competitiveness in best practice and innovation.

Peter Lilley said: “All manufacturing companies based in the UK are eligible to enter, no matter their size, and there is a special award to encourage companies to grow and prosper.

“Entrance to MX2004 is free and supported by, among others, the DTI, the Engineering Employers‘ Federation, the Manufacturing Advisory Service and the Manufacturing Foundation. The award covers six industrial disciplines: customer focus; product innovation; process innovation; resource efficiency; people effectiveness and IT.

“I believe that a thriving manufacturing sector is essential for a healthy British economy. It accounts for 20% of the UK‘s GDP and employs over 4 million people. These awards reward the hard work of all those working in manufacturing. I urge local companies to enter the MX2004 to receive the recognition of excellence they deserve.”
