Over fifty 17 and 18 year olds joined Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, last night to see Parliament at work, to discuss issues important to them and to ask questions on the work of their MP.
Peter Lilley said: “I was delighted that so many young people took the trouble to come to Parliament to meet their MP and to see democracy at work. We had a lively discussion in one of the Committee Rooms for over an hour about everything from the effect of the continuous pressure of exams on the quality of learning to animal rights.
We then took over the Public Gallery to see the debate on the Violent Crime Reduction Bill before returning to my room for informal discussion which did not finally end until the House rose at 10.30pm.
I know quite a few young people were unable to come because of A-levels. If they let me know by e-mailing email@example.com I will ensure they are invited to the next similar event.?
