Peter Lilley waved off Peter and Linda Galea as they set off in their 1952 Alvis Healey from Great Offley to Parliament. They were one of 67 classic cars which raised ?23,000 for Macmillan Nurses in the sponsored rally.
The classic car enthusiasts were also drawing the attention of Parliament to the threat which prospective European regulations could pose to their hobby.
Peter Lilley said: “I congratulate Peter and Linda and other classic car enthusiasts on raising so much money for such a good cause. Classic cars are very much a British passion. It would be very sad if they fell foul of European regulations which would require specific permission to be obtained each time they were used.?
