Peter Lilley spoke to the 11th Hitchin (Christchurch) Cubs and Scouts to discuss his role as their MP and explain how Parliament works in preparation for UK Parliament Week.
Peter said: “I was very impressed by both the Cubs and Scouts. It was wonderful to see young people engaging so enthusiastically with our Parliamentary democracy.”
Scout Leader Dr Robin Kent said: “We had a great evening with Peter last Thursday and he was excellent with the Cub Scouts and the Scouts. He successfully made Parliament interesting and engaging at the same time and it was great to see him work with the children. He also coped very well with the questions (they ranged from his security to how to become an MP).”
He added: “Mr Lilley’s visitgave Cubs and Scouts an opportunity to hear about the House of Commons, the House of Lords and what really happens as laws go from an idea to reality. It was a fascinating evening for the Cubs and Scouts to talk with their constituency MP.”
