On Monday, Peter Lilley met early-career research scientist Joanna Sadler as she presented her work at the SET Awards Britain in the House of Commons. She was later awarded the Gold Award for the chemistry category. Ms Sadler, from Hitchin, is in the final year of a collaborative industrial PhD programme between GSK in Stevenage and the University of Strathclyde, and was shortlisted to present her work on pioneering novel technologies towards the sustainable manufacture of medicines using biocatalysts.
Peter said: “I was delighted to meet Joanna, and to be given an overview of what she has been working on over the last couple of years. The research she has been carrying out is very exciting, and could have a big impact. I congratulate her on her outstanding achievement.”
