Neil Cain was last week named the City & Guilds Apprentice Champion of the Year at the National Apprenticeship Awards on London’s Park Lane. The award recognises Neil’s outstanding contribution to apprenticeships over a period of over 30 years – since he started out his career on an apprenticeship in 1980.
Peter said: “I congratulate Mr. Cain on his outstanding contribution to apprenticeships, and am delighted that this has been recognised. This award acknowledges a long career that should be an inspiration and an encouragement to all those embarking on, or thinking of embarking on apprenticeships now. His dedication to helping those on the same journey as him deserves to be celebrated.”
Mr. Cain’s career has seen him progress from an apprentice at Sunderland Parks Department to the Operations Director at John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance Contractor. Mr. Cain has a long history of supporting apprenticeships and staff training. Throughout his career, he has both championed the role of apprenticeships generally, and supported individuals through mentoring schemes.
