Rt Hon Lord Lilley

Last week Peter Lilley congratulated Suzanne Walton of Whitehill Junior School in Hitchin on winning a Pearson Teaching Award during a celebratory reception in the House of Commons. Suzanne will now join 59 other Silver Award winners at the UK final of the Teaching Awards at London’s Guildhall in October, where 11 Silver Award winners will receive a Gold Award.

“Many congratulations to Suzanne on her thoroughly deserved award for Teacher of the Year in a Primary School,” said Peter. “I am delighted that Whitehill Junior School and Suzanne’s personal dedication to her pupils have been recognised in this way and it is a pleasure to be here to celebrate exceptional teachers in the UK and specifically from our local community. I wish Suzanne all the very best in the next stage of the awards process.

“Great teachers inspire and challenge children, giving them the tools they need to fulfil their potential and follow their ambitions. Everyone can remember the teacher who made a difference in their childhood and this is a great opportunity to thank all those who work so hard to educate the next generation.”
