Hundreds of enthusiastic Redbourn children surged into the new play ground opened by local MP Peter Lilley, nearly bowling him and half the Parish Council over in their eagerness to enjoy its swings, slides and climbing-frames. Peter joined hundreds of local families in celebrating the completion of this community-funded project, which follows three years of tireless fund-raising and hard work.
“I was delighted to open the new East Common Playground and congratulate everyone who contributed to the East Common Project, especially Cllr Nadia Davies, who – along with her team – has dedicated an immense amount of time and effort into making this playground a reality,” said Peter. “This really is a community-wide achievement and I hope that the residents of Redbourn are deservedly proud of this fantastic new facility.”
“The enthusiasm of the children for this new playground was demonstrated as a hundred or more surged into the enclosure as soon as I cut the tape – nearly bowling over Nadia, myself and half the Parish Council! As it has been completed just in time for the Easter holidays, I am sure that this facility at the heart of Redbourn will immediately be put to good use.”
