Peter Lilley held two question and answer sessions with pupils from The Priory School, Hitchin last week during their visits to Westminster, giving them the chance to learn about the mechanics of parliament and their local MP’s own role in law-making.
“It was a pleasure to meet these young people and fantastic to see such a keen interest in politics and the running of our country,” said Peter. “I fielded questions from the independence of MPs to my personal contribution to the UK’s laws, and how laws are made.
“It is very important that children have the opportunity to learn about the political process and how they can become engaged, and judging by the number of questions on how to become an MP, I am pleased that Hitchin is producing so many aspiring politicians.”
