Local MP Peter Lilley welcomes news that Hitchin saw a record number of new businesses formed in the third quarter of last year – 179 new companies were formed during that the third quarter of 2012, an unprecedented figure that also gave rise to a record level of net company growth over the same period, with the company register increasing by 117.
“I am delighted to see so many new businesses appearing in Hitchin. These figures are symptomatic of the resilience and enterprise of this area in a harsh economic climate,” says Peter Lilley. “I hope to see this trend continuing as the levels of business confidence in this area continue to grow.
“It is important that we simultaneously work to protect the character and environment of this area, whilst not impeding the growth of business, on which the jobs and incomes of local people depend.”
