Rt Hon Lord Lilley

Local MP Peter Lilley attended the Gospel Fundraising Concert at the Hitchin branch of the North Hertfordshire College Centre for the Arts last Saturday.  After the concert, Mr Lilley was asked to present a donation cheque to representatives from the Hitchin Town Centre management team, which will go towards Hitchin’s enterprise initiative.  Coordinators at the New Testament Church of God in Hitchin have been raising funds which will help them to bring the community closer through music and dance, and to support the Community Enterprise Initiative – a programme which helps young people who are looking to start a business, need advice or who need enterprise and employability skills.

Peter Lilley said: “I was pleased to have the opportunity to support the New Testament Church of God in Hitchin, which has been hosting fundraising events to support their mission to reach out to the local community through music and dance.  The funds they raise help their small and upcoming Church to build its own music ministry, which will teach children to read music, sing and play musical instruments.

“The concert was an inspired, inspiring and joyful event and I commend the contribution the Church is making to help young people in the town and to support Keith Hoskin’s Community Enterprise Initiative. This is a very worthwhile project that provides students with enterprise opportunities and gives local business people and entrepreneurs the opportunity to act as business mentors.  I wish the Church and the Hitchin Initiative every success in reaching their fundraising targets.”
