The pupils in Years 5 and 6 at Whitehill had prepared a large number of questions for their local MP, including why he decided to become an MP and whether he enjoyed it. The pupils then presented Peter with a series of letters that he promised to respond to. Finally, they showed Peter the mock election manifestos they had prepared as part of their IPC unit school project.
Peter Lilley said: “I was pleased to see that the pupils at Whitehill were taking such a lively interest in Parliament and the democratic process at such a young age. The pupils presented me with their mock manifestos and I look forward to poaching their best ideas for my own future manifesto!”
