LILLEY WELCOMES NEW RESTAURANT VENTURE
Harpenden’s MP, Peter Lilley, was among the dignitaries invited to the opening night of the town’s newest restaurant, the Pantry at 4 Harding Parade.
He said: “At a time of economic difficulty, it’s a pleasure to see people who are prepared to buck the trend and start a new enterprise. I am delighted to see a new addition to Harpenden’s range of gastronomic delights, especially as the Pantry plans to source most of its food from local suppliers.
“Farmers and food businesses in the district need outlets like this to thrive and prosper, so there’s much more at stake than just another restaurant for people to choose.
In charge of the kitchen is Jayne Jeannin, who said: “There are local producers providing really world class food such as meat, sausages, charcuterie, cheese and bread. Ten years ago we could not have done this, but British food is now among the best you can find and that’s what we will be concentrating on.”
