LILLEY TO MEET THAMESLINK OFFICIALS

- Monday, 24th May 2004

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, is to meet Thameslink to seek assurances that the disruption and inconvenience caused to commuters from Hertfordshire by major works over the next 12 months will be kept to a minimum. He will meet senior Thameslink officials this Wednesday, the 26th May.

Peter Lilley said: "Work on the new Thameslink station underneath St Pancras will impact on the Thameslink line. I understand that Thameslink services will have to be divided into two and all southbound trains may have to terminate at the temporary station at St Pancras and northbound trains may terminate at King?s Cross Thameslink. This could affect all services from September 2004 until Spring 2005

"I will be discussing with Thameslink how they can ensure that disruption and inconvenience will be kept to a minimum for my constituents who commute from Harpenden and St Albans.

"In the long run the new station at St Pancras with extra connections to the tube should be very welcome. But in the interim commuting may be a misery for thousands of my constituents so it is important to keep the disruption to the shortest possible time.?
