"LISTEN BEFORE YOU CLOSE SURGERY? SAYS MP

- Friday, 10th September 2004

Peter Lillley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, and County Councillor Nigel Brook expressed concern that the proposal to close the weekly GPs? surgery in Breachwood Green was being treated as a ?fait accompli? before consultation has taken place.

Peter Lilley said: "We urge the PCT to keep an open mind and listen to the views of residents of the village before taking a decision. The facilities at the village hall are certainly not ideal, but it would be extremely difficult for many local residents to travel to Whitwell to consult their GP. "

A consultation meeting is being held between 9.30 and 11.30am next Tuesday, the 14th September, at the Baptist Church, next to the Village Hall in Breachwood Green.
