LUTON AIRPORT PETITION LAUNCHED IN HITCHIN

- Sunday, 9th January 2005

Conservative Councillors and members of LADACAN were out on the streets last Saturday collecting names on the "Limit Luton Airport? Petition launched by Peter Lilley, Member of Parliament for Hitchin & Harpenden.

Peter Lilley said " Campaigners found that there is not only concern about the potential impact of Luton Airport‘s plans on our environment but also anger that their so called ‘master plan‘ goes way beyond what was consulted upon by the government. It is essential that we demonstrate the scale of this opposition to both the operator and the government by this petition and as many letters as possible to the Transport Minister. I urge people to send their letters via me at the House of Commons and I will see that they reach the Minister."

The Hitchin Society is organizing a Public Meeting, which will be attended by Peter Lilley and representatives from local councils, at Christ Church in Bedford Road at 7.30pm on Friday, the 20th January
