LILLEY OPENS NEW STUDIO PROJECT

- Wednesday, 20th July 2005

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, opened the new studio project in Hitchin run by the Sound Base Studios Trust, a charity which has been running for over six years and which has won awards for working with young people addressing anti-social behaviour. The studio is equipped with state of the art technology to train young people who are interested in learning about making and recording music.

Peter Lilley hailed the success of the project in encouraging young people who have previously been excluded from the education system and helping them acquire valuable skills. He was shown around the studio by former students who were full of praise for what Sound Base has taught them.

Peter Lilley said: "I pay tribute to Amanda Ashley and her staff who have got these splendid new premises up and running in record time. This is a very valuable resource for helping disadvantaged young people in particular young offenders, school excluders and young people who in general have difficulties fitting in with the formal education system?
