PRESS RELEASE FROM THE RT HON PETER LILLEY MP

Monday June 29th 2009

LILLEY RAISES A GLASS OF HERTFORDSHIRE BEER

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, was an early visitor to the first ever Harpenden Beer and Cider Festival at the Public Halls last week to show his support for Hertfordshire brewed beers.

The event, organised by the South Hertfordshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, featured a wide selection of beers from around Britain and the Continent, as well as a prominent selection of beers and ciders produced in Hertfordshire.

Peter said: “I used to live opposite the Farrier’s Arms in St Albans, where CAMRA was founded, and I share its interest in keeping alive the tremendous diversity of British beer.

“There has been a welcome resurgence in the production of local beers in micro breweries, and this festival offered an opportunity for people to appreciate just what a range of beers is on offer in this county and across the UK.”
