Lilley: Airport Petition launched in Harpenden

- Saturday, 26th October 2002

Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, joined forces with local
councillors and residents to collect 650 signatures for the Luton Airport
Petition in Harpenden on Saturday (26th October). Over 1,500 local
residents from across Hitchin and Harpenden have now added their names to
the petition.

Peter Lilley said:

"Many local residents are rightly concerned about the prospect of
over-expansion of Luton Airport. There was strong support for the petition
in Harpenden on Saturday.

"This Wednesday (30th October) I will attend the public meeting on Luton
Airport expansion at the Rothamsted Conference Centre in Harpenden. This
will be an important opportunity for people to learn more about the
Government?s flawed proposals to over-expand Luton Airport."
