My Constituency Priorities

- Thursday, 10th May 2001

At my regular House Meetings, people?s worries are:

- The crisis in local hospitals ? dirty wards, complaints ignored. We must restore the morale of our excellent nurses and doctors by letting health professionals set priorities for health, not political, reasons.

- The threat to local schools if Labour cut Hertfordshire?s funding. I will defend our share of funding.

- Prescott?s plan to build 10,000 houses between Hitchin and Stevenage. I want affordable housing in towns not expensive houses in our Greenbelt.

Why have Labour raised taxes yet failed on health and education? Because they spent the taxes mostly on welfare. We have identified sensible savings in social security to reduce taxes while matching Labour?s health and education plans.
